Crucifixion Triptych

This is a triptych about the crucifixion, made using oil paint on primed linen. Each figure is an impression of the artist. The crowns of thorns are blackthorn, which is often in flower at Easter time, and would have been the natural choice of thorn in this area of the world.

Each of the paintings shows a different interpretation of Christ crucified. Anguish on the left, resignation on the right, and with back turned in the centre.

The figures are dressed in modern everyday street clothing to emphasise that the scene is still relevant today.

The crowns of thorns are flowering as a message of hope.
