Calling all Cricket Fans

After a hugely enjoyable season, All Saints Fulham are looking for opponents both old and new for the 2010 cricket season. The emphasis is very much on having a good time rather than a win at all costs mentality and we would love to play you at our beautiful ground next to the Thames.

A number of other parishes have also expressed an interest in taking part in a Diocesan 20/20 competition in 2010. So if you have a church cricket team (or fancy putting one together) and are interested in either a one-off match or taking part in a 20/20 Diocesan competition please contact Andrew Downes at All Saints Fulham on 07939 290265 or andrewvjd (Email: andrewvjd [at] googlemail.com).

Surplus amices and albs

St Thomas’s Finsbury Park has some surplus cottas, amices, albs etc that may be of use, particularly to a church that sends such things to poorer churches overseas.

For more information, please contact the Revd Stephen Coles by e: cardinal.jeoffrey (Email: cardinal.jeoffrey [at] btconnect.com).

Between Heaven and Charing Cross

Between Heaven and Charing Cross is Canon Martin Warner’s new book, in which he explores the enterprise of being a Christian.

Martin Warner sets out to give an intelligent and spiritual account of the adventure of faith. He covers new ground but also digs in the familiar routine of daily life for the possibility of faith in God. With some originality and courage, Warner has based his book on the vesting prayers used by the celebrant at the Eucharist. But a scriptural metaphor best describes the book’s contents.

Good Value: Reflections on Money, Morality and an Uncertain World

This new book by the Revd Preb Stephen Green has now been published. Ruth Gledhill has given it a good write up in The Times.

It is available from Church House Bookshop.

How should we create wealth in societies, and why is it right and necessary to do so? What improves the lives of the largest number of people?
