Sacred Synod discussion

Following the General Synod vote in July 2008 to begin the process for the appointment of women bishops in the Church of England, the Bishop of London announced a Sacred Synod – a gathering of the Diocesan clergy in the context of worship and prayer, to listen to one another.

As the Bishop opened the Synod he reminded us that the word synod is derived from being ‘together on the way’, just as the disciples were with the Risen Christ on the way to Emmaus. You can read the text of the Bishop’s bidding letter here.
